Nasci em Lisboa, em 1979, e cresci entre a Charneca da Caparica e Faro, num contexto familiar com forte ligação à terra e à prática directa. A infância foi marcada por experiências como pesca submarina, jardinagem, caça e construção — actividades que moldaram a minha leitura da paisagem e o sentido de comunidade. O meu pai, prático e multifacetado, e a minha mãe, com sensibilidade natural à ecologia do lugar, foram influências determinantes.

Durante a juventude, aproximei-me de centros culturais autogeridos e comunidades alternativas em Portugal e Espanha. Em 1999, nos Pirenéus e na Galiza, descobri o valor da autonomia e da vida simples, iniciando um percurso de autosuficiência e ligação com a natureza — um caminho que se consolidaria como compromisso com a regeneração territorial.

Em 2003, adoptei um modo de vida off-grid, residindo em quintas biológicas e comunidades resilientes. No Vale do Ceira, a partir de 2010, aprofundei práticas em agricultura regenerativa, construção ecológica, gestão florestal, sistemas descentralizados, planeamento colectivo e assembleias locais — uma fase fundadora da minha missão de vida.

Desde então, co-facilitei Cursos de Design em Permacultura (PDC), conduzi workshops técnicos e prestei consultoria em reflorestação, infraestruturas de água e planeamento rural, incluindo acções pós-fogo pro bono em Monchique, Góis, Pedrógão Grande e Ourique após os grandes incêndios.

Sou pai de quatro filhos — a raiz mais profunda da minha motivação.

Fundador da Terracrua Design, coordeno há mais de uma década projectos de planeamento ecológico e regenerativo em Portugal, Angola e Estados Unidos — com mais de 300 consultorias, projectos e intervenções, desde pequenas quintas a herdades com milhares de hectares. As minhas especialidades incluem leitura da paisagem, gestão da água, Keyline Design, agroecologia, organização bioregional — e imaginação aplicada ao território.

A minha abordagem técnica baseia-se na Escala da Permanência de P.A. Yeomans, evoluindo para um modelo próprio onde a regeneração da biosfera antecede qualquer uso humano do território. O plano emerge da ecologia — não se sobrepõe a ela.

Sou apicultor certificado (MPBio) e, com a minha companheira Lotte e a minha irmã Suzy, coordeno projectos familiares como a Azenhas & Castelos (mediação rural) e o viveiro agroflorestal Plantamisto. Estamos actualmente a implementar um modelo agro-silvo-pastoril regenerativo na nossa propriedade de 17 hectares em Santa Clara-a-Nova.

Co-fundei a Semina Futuri – Associação de Desenvolvimento Regenerativo do Alto Mira, a partir da qual promovemos planeamento bioregional, agroecologia e capacitação comunitária. Integro a direcção da ATGDM – Associação Terras e Gentes da Dieta Mediterrânica, e em 2025 co-fundei o Instituto de Planeamento Regenerativo (IPR), dedicado à formação, projecto, políticas públicas e ferramentas regenerativas.

Sou também co-criador da plataforma Earthbenders.pt, que gera masterplans regenerativos automatizados à escala de bacias hidrográficas, regiões e países, cruzando algoritmos geográficos com inteligência ecológica.

Participei em conferências, formações e publicações (como Ruminantes, Voz do Campo e Eco123), e assino ensaios e whitepapers sobre economia regenerativa, design bioregional e sistemas financeiros locais. Colaboro com universidades, autarquias e redes internacionais.

Enraizei-me na bacia hidrográfica do Mira pelo seu potencial regenerativo, ecológico e cultural. Acredito que é nas bacias que devemos refundar a economia, a política e o modo de viver.
O futuro será local. E regenerativo.

Biography

I was born in Lisbon in 1979 and grew up between Charneca da Caparica and Faro, in a family environment with a strong connection to land and practical knowledge. My childhood was marked by activities such as spearfishing, gardening, hunting and construction — experiences that shaped my landscape awareness and sense of community. My father, practical and multifaceted, and my mother, with a natural sensitivity to place, were decisive influences.

In my youth, I became involved in self-managed cultural centres and alternative communities in Portugal and Spain. In 1999, in the Pyrenees and Galicia, I discovered the value of autonomy and simple living, beginning a path of self-sufficiency and nature connection — a path that would become a long-term commitment to territorial regeneration.

In 2003, I embraced an off-grid lifestyle, living in organic farms and resilient communities. In the Ceira Valley, from 2010 onward, I deepened my practice in regenerative agriculture, ecological construction, forest management, decentralised systems, collective planning and grassroots assemblies — a founding stage of my life mission.

Since then, I have co-facilitated Permaculture Design Courses (PDCs), led technical workshops, and provided consulting in reforestation, rural planning and water systems — including pro bono support in Monchique, Góis, Pedrógão Grande and Ourique after major wildfires.

I am the father of four children — the deepest root of my motivation.

Founder of Terracrua Design, I have led ecological and regenerative planning projects for over a decade in Portugal, Angola and the United States — with more than 300 consulting, projects or interventions, from family farms to large estates. My specialisations include landscape reading, water systems, Keyline Design, agroecology, bioregional organisation — and territorial imagination.

My technical approach is based on P.A. Yeomans’ Scale of Permanence, which I have evolved into a model where biosphere regeneration comes before any human land use. The plan emerges from ecology — it is never imposed upon it.

I am a certified organic beekeeper (MPBio) and, together with my partner Lotte and my sister Suzy, I coordinate family projects such as Azenhas & Castelos (rural mediation) and the agroforestry nursery Plantamisto. We are currently implementing a regenerative agro-silvo-pastoral model on our 17-hectare farm in Santa Clara-a-Nova.

I co-founded the Semina Futuri – Association for the Regenerative Development in the Alto Mira region, through which we promote bioregional planning, agroecology and community capacity-building. I serve on the board of ATGDM – Mediterranean Diet Lands and People Association, and in 2025, I co-founded the Institute for Regenerative Planning (IPR) — dedicated to training, project development, public policy and territorial tools.

I am also co-creator of the platform Earthbenders.pt, which generates automated regenerative masterplans at the scale of watersheds, regions and nations, combining geographic algorithms with ecological intelligence.

I have participated in conferences, training programmes and publications (such as Ruminantes, Voz do Campo and Eco123), and author whitepapers and essays on regenerative economics, bioregional design and local financial systems. I collaborate with universities, municipalities and international networks.

I have rooted myself in the Mira River Basin, drawn by its regenerative, ecological and cultural potential. I believe watersheds are where we must rebuild economy, politics and our way of inhabiting the Earth.
The future is local. And regenerative.
